About five years ago, my idea for The Sparks and Whispers Mysteries started to take shape.
The stories would be aimed at children ages 8 to 12 or so…already reading on their own, but young enough to appreciate the magic of mystery. They would help children believe in hope and possibility and continue to spark that sense of wonder they’re born with, wonder that never needs to end.

Blossie’s Books started with journal entries, just pages of scribbles and reflections about my life: a young marriage, his infidelity, then divorce. Remarriage, infertility, miscarriages, then one day, two beautiful babies.
Working for other people, then myself as I built a business up from nothing. Employees came and went. I held on by my fingernails through hard times. I’ve had $5.62 to my name, been financially comfortable, and literally everything in between.
Gratitude is hope
So I wanted a car to replace my 15-year-old Honda with more rust than body, with failing springs (which feels like driving with cinderblocks for wheels), and not one but two broken taillight covers. When I shared this with a cruel narcissist from my early life, I was told to be grateful that I had a car at all.
“You could be riding your bike everywhere or buying a bus pass every month,” he said.
