Only love

Please enjoy this excerpt from Braving It, one of my absolute favorite books. You gotta read the whole thing…there’s so much in here about living boldly and freely! This post is from the chapter: “Let only love in”

So what should make it through our souls’ screening process if our invisible fence is only supposed to let love in? I think that’s simple but not always easy.

Here’s how we recognize love, beautiful someone: Read More

Just getting started

Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten.

— Natasha Bedingfield

The theme I have for you this month is “Just getting started” — and beautiful someone, we SO are, in every way.

So what if today is the day the everything changes for you? What if today you realize that you are braver than you know, stronger than you think, and more valuable than you’ve ever let yourself believe?

Because nothing in Braving It is out of reach for us. It may seem that way because our brave has been hiding behind years of conditioning and tons of clutter that we’re having trouble reaching around. But once we clear out the bad memories, unhealthy relationships, preconceived ideas of what and who we should be and are capable of…we can fill that space instead with honest, courageous choices.

Invite joy: Yes Changes Everything!

Yes Changes Everything!Picture a buffet filled with freshly-made food: crisp veggies, grilled chicken and fish, salad, and whole grain bread, but also creamy pasta salads, saucy wings, fried everything, and buttery garlic bread. Self-serve! We get to spoon whatever we want onto our plates. We’re choosing what we want, what we say yes to.

This is life itself, beautiful someone. When we say yes to something, what we’re really saying is, “I’m going to let that in,” whether that’s mouth food, brain food (thoughts, information, advice, inspiration), or whole body food (the experiences that shape our lives and who we become)…all of which we “consume.”

Saying yes to anything, including ideas, relationships, opinions, jobs, and even vacation plans is saying, “I believe this is worthy of space in my one precious head, heart, and body. I invite it in.” Read More

Let’s see what we think

Please enjoy this excerpt from the Introduction to The Becoming Journal!

There’s something really wonderful about putting our thoughts on paper where we can see them. Writing slows us down and gives us time to think. Intuition and random thoughts start joining into vivid pictures until all of a sudden, we see new connections, aha’s!, and fresh ideas.

Kind of like turning a sweater inside out so we can finally see the tag that’s been itching us, putting a vague idea that’s been drifting around in our heads down on paper gets it out where we can see it. In the light of day, it may look amazing; it may not. Either way, writing it down gives us power over what happens next.

Dream your dream

Your dreams are one of the truest parts of you.

To have the energy and passion you need for any dream, it’s got to be first and foremost about what you want to bring into your life. It’s easy to get distracted by what other people think, even people we love and care about, or even by what the headlines say.

We tend to listen too hard to other people’s ideas about what we should and shouldn’t try or what we’re good at or how we should spend our time and lives. We take the headlines too seriously and immediately apply them to ourselves, when they don’t.
